November 1, 2007 - Newark, NJ – Little Kids Rock (LKR), a program providing free instruments and instruction for public school students, today announced it is now a part of iTunes U, Apple's free educational component to its wildly popular iTunes platform. There are only a few dozen iTunes U providers and LKR is one of the newest. The program proudly takes its seat among the Top Ten most downloaded educational programs on iTunes U. In fact, it is long-time Rod Stewart drummer Carmine Appice’s Little Kids Rock video contribution that has secured a place in the iTunes U Top Ten while the organization’s guitar and drum lessons are now listed in the top 20.
iTunes U has made it possible for the 500 million plus iTunes users to benefit from Little Kids Rock's free curriculum and video lessons. These lessons are downloadable to iPods, so people can take the content anywhere.
“We are excited to have been given the opportunity to provide the gift of free music education to people around the globe,” said Dave Wish, Founder and Executive Director of Little Kids Rock.
The Little Kids Rock iTunes U site will provide internet video and downloadable PDF lessons in guitar, drums, and more. Little Kids Rock also has a free activity book with crossword puzzles, coloring sheets, word search, and other games.
In total, LKR has provided the iTunes U site with more than 50 free video drum lessons, 40 interactive animated drum lessons, 20 guitar lessons, a guitar book to coincide with lessons, drum beat book coinciding with lessons, an activity book, and cool PC wallpaper.

About Little Kids Rock
Little Kids Rock believes that music is a critical component of a first-rate education. Many schools have been stripped of their music programs. These cuts have had a disproportionately large impact on children from low-income backgrounds. Little Kids Rock restores music to its rightful place in the academic lives of kids in our public schools by providing a rich music education program including instrument instruction, free instruments and trained mentors. Currently, the Little Kids Rock program serves more than 12,000 students in California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington DC.
