ART IMITATES LIFE ON NICKELODEON SERIES
NAKED BROTHERS “BATTLE OF THE BANDS” EPISODE PROMOTES PHILANTHROPY FOR
LITTLE KIDS ROCK MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
WHAT: Little Kids Rock, (LKR), a program providing free instruments and instruction for public school students, will be featured this weekend on the Nickelodeon’s The Naked Brothers Band program. The two-part episode centers around the Naked Brothers and an archrival band competing bragging rights at an event planned by fictitious members of the real-life LKR organization. In an effort to promote increased awareness around the national music program, The Naked Brothers features LKR as the sole benefactor of the event’s proceeds.
WHY: Little Kids Rock is a non-profit organization committed to teaching public school students across the country to how play live instruments and write their own music. LKR students not only perform, but they also compose and record their own music spanning a variety of genres such as pop, rock, reggae, funk, blues, rap and hip-hop music. The after-school program currently operates in more than 400 public schools across the country and has served more than 10,000 students since its inception in 1996. To date, LKR students have released 5 full-length CDs as well as music videos featuring student-written originals.
WHO: Emmy-nominated actress, and The Naked Brothers Band producer, Polly Draper is an enthusiastic supporter of the Little Kids Rock mission to bring music to public schools. By leveraging the Nickelodeon series as a national platform, she has been able to successfully promote the real-life mission of LKR through fictitious characters on the show. She’s also helped increase national awareness by having the show’s co-stars, Nat and Alex Wolfe, wear Little Kids Rock t-shirts in previous episodes.
Draper is among scores of celebrities and artists who have donated their time and resources to LKR including Ziggy Marley, Dave Navarro, Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana and BB King.

ABOUT: Little Kids Rock believes that music is a critical component of first-rate education. Many schools have been stripped of their music programs. These cuts have had a disproportionately large impact on children from low-income backgrounds. Little Kids Rock restores music to its rightful place in the academic lives of kids in our public schools by providing a rich music education program including instrument instruction, free instruments and trained mentors. Founded by an elementary school teacher in 1996, Little Kids Rock is now serving thousands of students in CA, GA, LA, NY, NJ, TN, PA and Washington, DC.
