– October 17, 2006 – Little Kids Rock (LKR), an innovative non-profit music education
program, today announced that the Gregg Rolie Band, led by the original voice and co-founder
of the Santana Band, will headline a benefit event on October 22 at Slim’s in San Francisco.
The other featured performer will be the Flying Other Brothers, a popular Bay Area jam band
led by prominent venture capitalist Roger McNamee, co-founder of Integral Capital Partners.
”Music Matters 2006” will be a rockin' evening of music, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails to
benefit Little Kids Rock programming.
“We are excited to join this team of dedicated individuals and to be a part of the growing
movement to restore music education,” said Gregg Rolie, best known for his lead vocals on
classic rock staples “Black Magic Woman," "Evil Ways" and "Oye Como Va.” He was inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
“Little Kids Rock is a grassroots movement that puts music into the lives of children,” said
Dave Wish, executive director of Little Kids Rock. “Our success is powered musicians like
the Gregg Rolie Band and the Flying Other Brothers, who care enough to make a difference in
the lives of children.”
The all-ages event will take place on Sunday, October 22nd from 6:30 to 10:00pm at Slim’s

About Little Kids Rock
Little Kids Rock believes that music is a critical component of first-rate education. Many
elementary schools have been stripped of their music programs. These cuts have had a
disproportionately large impact on children from low-income backgrounds. Little Kids Rock
restores music to its rightful place in the academic lives of kids in our public schools by
providing a rich music education program including instrument instruction, free instruments
and trained mentors. Founded by a single elementary school teacher in 1996, Little Kids Rock has
served more than 10,000 students in CA, LA, NY, NJ and TN. Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, B.B. King
and Les Paul sit on our Honorary Board of Directors and we are supported by friends Carlos
Santana, Phish, Bob Weir and others. More information can be found at:
